1 Cube Sugar 1 Part Absinthe 2 Parts Rye Whiskey (or Brandy) 3 to 5 dashes Peychaud Bitters Lemon Peel twist
Chill cocktail glass – add Sugar, Bitters, and whiskey to shaker. After sugar has dissolved add ice and shake. Empty chilling cocktail glass, coat glass with absinthe then strain in the rest. Rub the twisted lemon peel over the rim… Don’t use it as a garnish.
The Sazerac is credited as being the first Cocktail ever created. First made in 1805 and popularized throughout the early 1800s.
A cocktail is made by combining several spirits as opposed to a mixed drink which contains only one type of spirit.
